研究
Research in my interest is mainly focusing on developing and implementing an array of mass spectrometry based novel analytical strategies to decipher puzzles about the most complex and elusive set of endo-/exo-genous molecules, such as proteins/protein complexes, neuropeptides, lipids, hormones, drugs, and so on, and obtain new insights into the physiological roles of these signaling molecules play in the progression of human diseases and/or plant stress tolerance. Although significant effort has been directed in recent years towards analytical technique and method development, it is the biomedical importance of understanding the mechanisms of disease progression and/or plant tolerance that drives my research to continuously develop and refine/improve the analytical capabilities to address challenging oncology and/or botany problems. A large body of research strongly shows that an imbalance or abnormal modification of chemical messengers in vivo is always associated with various disorders or diseases in both of human and plant. However, compared to classical signaling molecules such as peptides, the functional roles of many glycopeptides are still poorly understood, much less sialylated glycopeptides. This is, in part, due to the lack of analytical capabilities to measure and identify these low abundance endo-/exo-genous signaling molecules in a complex microenvironment. Obviously, development of highly sensitive and selective analytical methods or techniques for endo-/exo-genous molecules in vivo identification and quantitation is in great demand.
