Xiaoyue joined the group in 2020 and transitioned into a formal Ph.D. candidate in 2021. He focused initially on developing coherent control methods for ultra-broadband THz radiation from two-color laser-induced air plasma and later on building an optical pump multi-THz probe spectroscopy system by implementing the advanced air plasma-based THz source. He is now performing ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy on quantum materials with strong correlation and low dimension. At the same time, he continues research related to air plasma THz photonics.

Ph.D.: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2021.09-now) BS: University of Science and Technology of China (2017.09-2021.06) Yuhao's research interest is to use the ultrafast laser pulse to investigate the properties of materials, especially quantum materials, like superconductors, heavy fermion, charge density wave… By using the ultrafast pump-probe technique, he can interrogate and control quantum materials through light-matter interaction in linear and nonlinear regimes. He uses the probe pulse from THz to multi-THz to measure the dynamics of electrons, lattices, spins, and orbitals.

Yuehua joined the group as a PhD student in 2023. His research focuses on polariton response and superconductivity in low dimension meterials (for example, 2D materials: graphene, and 1D material: ultra-thin single wall carbon nanotube). He will conbine methods of encapsulation, electrical gating, hybridization of plaritons, twist angles between 2D materials, pump-probe, and subtrate engineering to manipulate highly confined and low damping plaritons.
